1. What are the BASIC requirements
for the use of AirPlay in my home?
With Apple's AirPlay-technology you can stream your audio
wirelessly to Libratone AirPlay enabled speakers, such as the Live
or the Lounge. Before you set up your AirPlay speaker you need
to ensure you have the following:
1. A Libratone AirPlay speaker, such as Libratone Live or
Libratone Lounge.
2. A wireless router enabling a stabile and accessible WiFi
network in your home.
3. Your Wireless Network Name and Wireless Network Password
(if applicable).
4. A compatible iDevice (iPad/iPad2, iPhone 3Gs (or later), iPod
touch (2nd generation or later) OR a Mac/PC.
Those are the very basic requirements, however please see right
below for the extended requirements and recommendations
you need to check BEFORE setting up your speaker.
Note: Our Setup Guides and Users Manual are included with
your product and also available here in PDF format.
2. What are the EXTENDED
requirements and recommendations for the use of AirPlay in my
home?
In addition to the above basic AirPlay requirements please
observe the following extended requirements and our
recommendations for setting up your AirPlay speaker:
1. Your network router, your Libratone speaker and your audio
device (computer or iDevice) must be in range of each other
with good network signal strength.
2. Your network router must support the Wireless B/G standard and
this option must be enabled in the router's configuration (Wireless
N is not supported).
3. Your Wireless Network Name (often referred to as SSID)
must be visible ("broadcasted") during the setup process, ie. it
must not be hidden. Once you've finished setup you may hide the
Wireless Network Name again.
4. These use of special characters such as
#, &, % or any national
characters in your Speaker Name, Wireless Network Name or Wireless
Network Password is not supported. If you use these
characters please replace them with alphanumeric
characters only.
5. Do not use WEP security on your router, but WPA/WPA2
security. WEP security is not supported.
6. Your iDevice needs to run iOS 4.2 or later and your Mac/PC
needs to run iTunes 10.2 or later. However,
Libratone generally recommends the use of the latest versions
of iOS and iTunes, as Apple is constantly improving AirPlay
stability and functionality in newer versions.
7. If you use an iDevice to set up your speaker it is
strongly recommended that you close (not just
minimize) Safari and all other applications in the taskbar on your
iDevice before starting the setup process.
8. It is recommended that your router runs the latest firmware
available for it.
3. IMPORTANT: If you're using
your iPhone 4S to set up your speaker
Users of the Apple iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0 or iOS 5.01 may
from time to time experience connectivity problems, as well as both
short and prolonged AirPlay audio drop-outs. This issue
is widespread and occurring on all AirPlay-enabled speakers
from a range of vendors including Libratone.
The issue has been solved in iOS 5.1 which became available from
Apple on March 7th 2012. Users of the iPhone 4S are therefore
strongly encouraged to install the iOS 5.1 update on their
devices to remedy this specific AirPlay issue.
4. Do you provide manuals in other
languages than English?
Yes, we certainly do. Please visit our "User's Manuals" page here,
and enjoy Libratone speaking French, German, Italian and
Spanish (besides English, that is).
5. Do I need to set up my speaker
for every iDevice or computer I will AirPlay from?
No, setup of your new Libratone AirPlay speaker is a one-time
process. Once you finish setup your speaker is available from
any iDevice or computer operating on the same WiFi as your
speaker. Just look for the AirPlay icon in iTunes, your iPod
player or any AirPlay compatible application.
6. How do I perform a Factory
Reset to start the setup process from scratch?
Initiate a Factory Reset by following these steps:
1. Start by turning AC power off at the mains switch of your
speaker.
2. Press the logo button firmly while powering up the speaker
again.
3. Maintain button pressure while the speaker powers up and the
logo button starts to pulse yellow.
4. When the logo button turns solid yellow release the logo
button.
5. Your speaker is now reset to factory settings. Please wait for
it to finish booting and for the logo button to pulse fast
red.
You can now start the setup process with a device of your choosing
(PC, Mac, iDevice or WPS). If you use an iDevice to setup your
AirPlay connection remember to close (not just
minimize) Safari and all other applications in the taskbar on your
iDevice before starting the setup process again.
Also, please remember to be VERY careful with every step of the
setup procedure as AirPlay is quite sensitive to user errors and
typos during setup.
7. How do I enter Setup Mode again
after configuring my speaker?
Sometimes you may want to set up your speaker to a new network
with a different network password or the like. In that case you
need to reconfigure your Libratone speaker to the new settings.
Please follow these steps:
1. Power on your speaker and wait for it to pulse slow white (=
it's in standby mode).
2. Press the logo button 4 times.
3. The speaker blinks white 4 times to confirm and turns to
pulsing yellow.
4. After approx. 30 seconds the button turns to pulsing fast red
and the speaker is ready in setup mode.
You can now start the setup process with a device of your choosing
(PC, Mac, iDevice or WPS). If you use an iDevice to setup your
AirPlay connection remember to close (not just
minimize) all other applications in the taskbar on your iDevice
before starting the setup process over again.
